The International Film Festival Venice is the film festival that takes place In Venice every year (from the end of August until the first ten days of September), in the historical Palazzo del Cinema, along the Lungomare Marconi on the Lido island of Venice. This is the oldest film festival. The 1st edtion took place from August 6th to August 21st 1932. Only the Oscars awards are older than the Venice film festival. The first edition was in 1929.The Venice international film festival is part of the Biennale of Venice, the contemporary art exhibition.
The Lungomare Marconi, where the palazzo del Cinema is, is famous for its gold-sand beaches too.
The most important award of the International film festival Venice is the Golden Lion; It takes its name from the symbol of venice town, the lion of Saint Mark’s church.It is considered one of the most important awards, together with the Palme D’or of the film festival of Cannes or the Golden bear of the Berlin film festival.

This year, the 74th edition of International Film Festival Venice, will take place from August 30th to 12th September in Lido island. The program has been revealed on July 27th with 21 films running to win the Golden Lion. The jury will be headed by Annette Bening will decide the winner between names like George Clooney, Darren Aronosky and Guillermo Del Toro.
