Between 1575 and 1577 Venice was hit by the most terrible plague after the one happened in 1348. Around 50000 people died. They were about one third of the venetian citizens. In order to beat the plague, the city decided, only in a second time, to move all the infected. Every member of our team is a necessary and unique resource in order to guarantee, to our guests, an unforgivable stay. The Bucintoro takes its name from the Burcio, a simple and wide boat, used for the transportation of goods. Restyled with sculptures, gildings and carvings, it became the Bucintoro, used as official boat by the Doge. The restaurant Il Nuovo galeon is located in Castello district on Garibaldi Street, a local and animated avenue by a local market and stores. Close by, you can find the venues of the Biennale exposition, famous for its art, architecture, movie and theatre exhibitions. Born by the passion of Andrea Longo, the venetian Galleon was built in 2001, recalling the shape on the ancient ships built ,by the Serenissima Republic between the 16th and the 19th century, and used for military purposes or transportation of goods and jewelry. Situated at the end of Riva degli Schiavoni, a few bridges away from Arsenale, the two business partners, Gino and Rosario, are pleased to welcome you at their restaurant, Carpaccio.
