Torcello (in our dialect Torcèło) is an island of the northern venetian lagoon. The island is easily reachable from Burano in 5 minutes with Actv line 9 or 12. Osteria Oliva Nera is a traditional restaurant, not too far from Saint Mark’s square, located in the heart of the most beautiful town of the world. The Historical Regatta is the main event in the annual “Voga alla Veneta” rowing calendar, unique sport that has been practised in the Venetian lagoon for thousands of years. Burano island Venice arises on four islands of the lagoon and it is connected through a bridge to Mazzorbo island. The tradition tells that Burano island was founded, as the surroundings, by the citizens of the roman town Altino, who took refuge in the lagoon to escape to the barbaric invasions, particularly from Attila the Hun and the Longobards. Divided in 9 small islands and crossed by a canal, Murano island is the venetian island famous for its glass blowing: this old tradition, still alive, has been pursued by generations of Murano island residents. On Calle Lunga Santa Maria Formosa you can find one of the most fascinating bookshop of the world, not to be missed by tourists or passionates: Acqua Alta bookshop Venice! The International Film Festival Venice is the film festival that takes place In Venice every year (from the end of August until the first ten days of September), in the historical Palazzo del Cinema, along the Lungomare Marconi on the Lido island of Venice. This place is an historical ice cream shop of our town. Over 80 years it delights locals and turists with its ice creams, recalling the old recepies and new and modern combinations.
